What is a press release?
A press release (also called a news release) is a short, informative article that gives timely information about a product or organization. It should be newsworthy, concise and truthful.

Why should I send out a press release?
Press releases can help you generate media coverage, build name recognition, maximize website search engine optimization (SEO) and spread the word about new products, services and other business developments.

A news release published in a trade magazine in print or online highlights your new products to current and potential customers.

What should my press release be about?
Let your customers and prospects know how you will be participating in Work Truck Week 2024. Announce that you are exhibiting, including any new products you’ll be introducing or demonstrating at the show, any special guests, or unique vehicles that customers won’t want to miss.

How to write a press release
Answer the basic who, what, where, when, why and how questions. Include the following information:

  • All important features and benefits.
  • When and where can customers buy the product?
  • Does it come in various shapes/sizes/modifications?
  • Any special attachments available?
  • Does it complement or replace an existing product?
  • Describe your company’s product/service line and the markets you serve.
  • Work Truck Week booth number.
  • Media contact information.

Use this example to craft your press release on company letterhead:

For release: (Date you authorize the media to use the information)

Keep headline fairly short, capture main idea of release, for example:

XYZ TRUCKS TO ANNOUNCE TECHNOLOGICAL BREAKTHROUGH AT WORK TRUCK WEEK 2024

City, State (Date) — Begin your release here. This is called the lead paragraph. Start with a lively sentence. Capture the attention of the reader to make him or her continue. State the most important facts in the beginning of the release. That way, important facts won’t be lost if the reader stops reading.

Continue to state the facts in descending order of importance. Double-space copy, to make it easier to read. Paragraphs should be short and concise. Sentences should be easy to read — avoid lengthy compound sentences.

Keep the release interesting and relevant while reporting the facts. Do not make false claims.

Be sure to include your booth number and the date, location and registration information for the event. Wrap up a press release with a paragraph or “boilerplate” about your company. Include company contact information such as phone number, URL, and social media identifiers. Place a “#” at the end of the release.
